The Guild / The Guild's Website
The International Guild of Wire Jewelry Artists is a membership organization formed to promote awareness of wire art jewelry. We are an "official" non-profit business league. You can get more information about the guild by reading the various pages in the "About Us" section of the website. You will find more information about membership options on the "Benefits" and "FAQ's" pages.

Anyone may join the guild by completing an application form and sending payment. Membership is for 1 year and annual renewals apply to continue as a member. You may join as a general member or as a business member. Members have access to the "members areas" of the website, which include the education and business libraries and the list of resources and links.

Joining the guild does not entitle you to juried membership or jad membership - both have separate approval processes.

Juried Members
You must be a business members to apply for juried status. Please make sure you read the jury procedures and judging guidelines prior to submitting your application. You should also read these bb posts - "How do I become juried?" and "Question About Judging Jury Selections".

Juried applications are voted on by the existing juried members. If a juried application is approved, they will be added to the juried gallery.

Juried members must maintain a business membership to retain their juried status. Juried members MUST PARTICIPATE IN JURY VOTES to retain their juried status. As a juried member you will understand the effort required to submit a jury application. Do not become a juried member if you are not willing to participate in each and every vote on new members! Juried members that do not participate in voting will lose their juried member status.

Jewelry Artist Direct (JAD)
Any jewelry artist with a shopper-friendly website focused on hand-crafted jewelry personally crafted by the web site owner may apply to Jewelry Artist Direct. JAD is not limited to wire jewelry. PLEASE MAKE SURE to read Information for Artists - JewelryArtistDirect.com, Mall Feature Requirements - Website Tour, Gallery Tour, Search, and the other topics in the JAD section of the bb prior to submitting your application!

Applications are reviewed by the JAD selection committee. If you are approved, you will receive instructions on where to send your images, etc. Approvals expire 60 days after being granted, so please make sure you are ready to do this promptly.

If approved, there is no extra cost for business members. General members will need to upgrade to a business membership. Non-guild members may choose to join the guild (same cost/easiest on admin) or they can just pay a fee equal to a business membership each year.

The key here - the selection committee is not judging your jewelry as much as they are judging your shopping experience. We are looking for sites that give customers a great on-line shopping experience, so they will continue shopping Jewelry Artist Direct web sites and tell other people about them.

BB / Artist Forum
Finally, there is the public bb which the guild funds and supports. No one seems to agree on what to call this thing and you'll see it referred to by many names. There are no fees to participate in the bb. Anyone may register and post, within a few general guidelines that just equate to good bb etiquette.

This is the main form of communication for guild members. You will get answers quicker by posting questions here rather than emailing them! For newbies, you'll get a much broader look at things posting your questions here rather than emailing individual members and hoping for help.

User IDs/Passwords
While both the bb and the guild's website have log-ins, neither recognizes the other. They are 2 different applications purchased from 2 separate companies. You have a separate and distinct log in to each. You must create your own user id/password for the bb by registering there. You website access will be set up by the automated member management system when you sign up.
